Metamorphis was a series I completed as a portion of my B.A. requirements in college. The series contains six pieces, the first two of which are shown here.
They were all completed through a series of templates whichwere transferred onto dyed rayon and then sewn. The stitches were all zigzagged tightly and tension was changed to allow the bobbin color to come up and be a part of the piece. They were then glued to backer boards and varnished to stiffen and enhance color depth. The series was all in blues, using a sort of symbol I dreamed up and then twisted a little bit more in each piece until it was no longer recognizable. A couple of these pieces have not survived being packed and moved several times since their completion in 2002 (year of completion of the art program at Truman State).
